The gold standard in state-of-the-art nutritional cancer therapies, is to start with a series of tests that give a complete individual biochemical profile of a cancer patient, as well as total information on general health, where many chronic, long-standing and draining conditions are often found in cancer patients. Ideally these tests should include a complete nutritional profile, with measured levels of all nutrients, from amino acids and essential fats, to minerals and vitamins; stomach absorption; allergies; candida presence; heavy metal toxicity; pyrrole excretion; exposure to various viruses - Epstein Barr, cytomegalovirus, Herpes Simplex; and perhaps most critically, a functional liver detoxification test, such as that devised by the U.S. doctor Jeffrey Bland. (This latter test looks at both the Phase I and II detoxification systems in the liver, and can analyze fairly precisely where nutritional therapy can act most effectively to support good liver detoxification.)
